The Wisdom of Tucker

Tucker, tonight, spoke great truth. We were watching the Oregon, Oregon St. game on TV, when an Oregon St. player went down with a horrible injury where his foot and ankle twisted around and broke.

Tucker, after a stunned silence said, "Daddy, feet don't go like that."

No, my boy, they do not.

Wow! It's been a long time!

So I thought that as Isabel got older I would have more time to get things done. Boy, was I wrong. She has turned into quite the clingy little thing. Cute? Yes! But, very clingy (and moody) She is definitely a girl!
Chad took the boys to a football game today and Isabel is taking a nap. (AAHHH this is nice) So I finally have some time to get caught up on the blog.

Halloween

Right before Halloween I went to Gardner Village with my mom, my grandma and the kids. We got this really cute picture.

For Halloween we went to my parents neighborhood for a Halloween parade. It was fast and easy and the kids had a lot of fun. After that we went trick-or-treating in Chad's parents neighborhood. Tucker was so funny. He practically ran from house to house.
Tucker was THRILLED to be a knight! Aidan didn't really want to dress up at all. And DEFINITELY didn't want to have this helmet on his head. What can I say? A picture says a thousand words!

And this is our Pretty Little Kitty! She was SO cute! It's amazing what felt and a hot glue gun can do.

At the last minute I pulled my old High School musical dress out of the closet. And I'm sure if you watch the Office you'll recognize Chad's "costume". He is FACEBOOK.

Just some cute pictures:

Cooperation

Tucker and Aidan get along real well. They play together and very rarely run into any major disagreements. This has us hopeful that they will be an influence for good in one anther's lives. However, it seems to go both ways. One example:

Tucker is running around with a chair on his head and running into things. Aidan picks up his chair and begins to run around behind Tucker and runs into the same thing. Eventually, this turns into running into each other.

At one point, Tucker collides with Aidan, but the chair doesn't cushion them. Aidan starts crying. Here is our conversation:

Me: Tucker and Aidan, give me you chairs right now and go sit in time out.

Tucker: I don't want to.

Aidan: I don't want to.

Me: Give me the chairs, now!

Tucker: No

Aidan: No

Me: Your chairs are in time out.

Tucker: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Aidan: (same decibel level, but 4 octaves lower) aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Maybe one day Tucker will open a book and sit down to read and Aidan will copy that....

Ah dreams. :)

Aidan's Birthday

Aidan loved his cake SO much that all he wanted to do was play with the Lightning McQueen and Mater that were on it. He didn't even want to eat any of it!! We got him to take one bite, but then he went right back to playing with the cars while saying "Mater's funny".

I'm a picture crazed mom. So, here goes:

Such concentration.

He loves his Mr. Potato Head! Thank you Aunt Brindi and Uncle Spencer!

Dinosaurs are perfect for a little boy! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Lewis!

This is his new "cool shirt" from Grandma and Grandpa Peterson.

Tucker playing with Aidan's new toy. Go figure!

Thank you everyone for coming and making such a fun day for our sweet little "Aidan boy". He really loved his birthday!!

Bear Lake

We went camping at Bear Lake this past month. It was a lot of fun. It was a little colder than normal, but the kids did great! Here are a few highlights:

This picture is pretty self-explanatory. We went to Minnetonka Cave. Tucker loved it! Aidan, not so much. He cried when they turned the lights out, "Mommy, lights back on! Lights back on!" It was hard not to laugh.

This one is proof that I was there. I'm always behind the camera whenever we go somewhere.

The beach was a lot of fun. Too cold to play a lot in the water, but fun.

Isabel LOVES the water

I wasn't going to go out on the wave runner, but decided to take Tucker out for a ride. It lasted a total of about two minutes.

I hit the gas and a HUGE wave of water came up over the front. That's when the screaming began. I kept going for a minute to see if he would calm down, but, he didn't. So, we went back. When we got back to the shore everyone was asking him if it was fun. He said "Yea! I was screamin'!" Hopefully, he will go again next year.

Random cute pix from July

This is at the Provo Falls up in the Uintahs. We took the boys shoes and pants off so they could walk in the FREEZING cold water. Obviously Aidan did not want to. (He eventually did and thought it was pretty cool, no pun intended)

No captions needed. This is just CUTE!

This is at Robintino's in Bountiful. (Tucker, Abby and Kenyon) Don't pay attention to all the pizza in Tucker's teeth.

Tucker doesn't really like fireworks. But he's fine if he covers his ears.

Daddy's little girl!

This is on the Ogden Temple grounds. It was a gorgeous day!

Tucker being squished by his cousin's.

This is how I found her after her nap. I had to race to get the camera.

July was BUSY!

It's kind of bitter sweet for me that July is over. My sister and her family came to visit from California for three weeks. We had a lot of fun and were hardly ever home. I'm glad things have slowed down (and I can keep up on my house work again). But, I also miss my sister and the boys miss thier cousins. :(
We miss you too, Adam. ;)

Here are some of the things that we did:

We went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house. It is such a beautiful temple. I think the inside is my new favorite! Aidan really liked the giant chandeliers and kept calling them "Blue Ice". The boys also really liked this picture of Christ that was in the refreshment area after the temple tour.
My mom has a friend from high school who lives in Daybreak (a community that is RIGHT next to the temple). We went to her house after the open house to change our clothes and this is a picture of all the kids on her front porch. My parents have had one grandchild every year since 2004. My sister is due with number seven in December. That makes two for 2009. I'm not having one in 2010!
We were able to participate in the Clinton City parade again this year for my parents store and the kids had a blast! My parents rented this limo and put vinyl lettering on the windows.

You can see Tucker about to throw some candy in this one.

On the Saturday before they left we went to the Roy Aquatic Center. The boys haven't had all that much time in a swimming pool and up until now haven't been very fond of the water. Aidan still doesn't like it much, but, Tucker is getting used to it and enjoys it a lot more. He actually let Chad put him all the way under the water.

It was Isabel's first experience in the water and she LOVED it! She didn't have a swimsuit when we went, but I have since found her one. I got it at the D.I. for $1. It still had it's original tag on it!

The 4th of July

We had a fun and very busy day on the 4th. We were at Layton park at 8:00 in the morning for the breakfast and then headed to the flag raising ceremony. I had been asked to sing the National Anthem. Following that, we headed to our spot and waited for the parade to start.

The boys really loved the parade. They especially loved getting all the candy that was thrown. Tucker had an eagle eye for it and would come back with two big hand fulls of the stuff. He also felt the need to run out in the middle of the street to pick up a piece that the other children had wisely chosen to ignore. As I embarrassingly ran after him, Chad's mom just laughed and said, "That's just like Chad"

We really had an enjoyable day with our families celebrating the freedoms of our great country. The freedoms that are so often under attack. We love this holiday and love teaching our children what it REALLY means to be an American. The Constitution was brought forth by men that were inspired by God. And while many in this country question it's validity, we will always remember this and continue to teach our children of their God given rights.

Mommy and Aidan going down the slide. Aidan hated the slide until "Mommy go too".

Just a budding photographer with my really cool 3 mp camera phone.

"Just 1 more time, please Daddy?"

A little boy showed Tucker a way to go down the slide that he never thought of before. He saw the boy go down and he looked at me and said, "Daddy, can I do it that way?" Sure... and he didn't die.

Our little monkey boy.

We were sitting outside on a very nice Sunday afternoon, when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. Two pretty girls looking at me. I just had to take their picture.

So, these are officially the cutest women on the planet. No offense to the 3 1/2 billion other women in the world.

Got My New and Last Phone for a LONG TIME

If you ever want a really cool phone, you might want to get the Palm Pre. It's super cool. Megan says that I can't have a new phone for at least 40 years, so I better like this one.

Tucker's Birthday

Tucker loves sports and is very good at them. The one that he is especially interested in right now is soccer. So we decided to do a whole soccer theme for his birthday. He was very excited to see all the decorations and his cake.
Aidan didn't quite get the fact that these were Tucker's toys. It's a good thing Tucker is pretty good at sharing

I just love how kids open presents that are in bags with tissue paper. The tissue always goes flying!

I wish that you could see the look that was on his face. He was so excited about his present from Mommy and Daddy. Whenever you get a gift for your kids, you think you've picked out something that they will LOVE. Sometimes we're totally off! This time, however, we got it right on the nose! He really loves it.

I don't think I have ever posted why we have these layered birthday cakes. Chad's Grandma Peterson bought cake pans for this layered cake when her kids were young. From then on she always made a layered chocolate-chocolate birthday cake. When Chad's parents got married she gave them a set of the cake pans. The tradition continued from there. And now the cakes are being made for the fourth generation! I love being able to carry on this fun tradition.

I put this on there 'cause it's just cute!
